Dr. Cynthia Sharp

Dr. Cynthia Sharp is a National Board-Certified Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a licensed Acupuncture Physician in the state of Florida. She earned her Doctorate in Oriental Medicine from the Atlantic Institute of Oriental Medicine and her Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine from the East-West College of Natural Medicine in Sarasota, Florida. In addition, Dr. Sharp is a licensed esthetician in Florida, specializing in facial treatments and microinjections. She is fluent in both Chinese and English, allowing her to connect with and support a diverse range of patients.

Combining her expertise in Traditional Chinese Medicine with her training in esthetics, Dr. Sharp is dedicated to promoting wellness and balance both internally and externally.The Acupuncture and Herbal Med Clinic of Tampa was established to provide patients with alternative, holistic therapies for a wide range of conditions. Each treatment is thoughtfully personalized, taking into account the patient’s unique medical history and individual preferences.

Dr. Mariana Tamayo is a Doctor of Oriental Medicine and a Florida-licensed Acupuncture Physician, certified by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She holds Diplomate status in both Acupuncture and Chinese Herbology.

Dr. Tamayo has successfully treated a wide range of conditions through a thoughtful combination of Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, using a gentle yet highly effective approach. She has a particular interest in women’s health, addressing concerns such as menstrual irregularities, fertility, anxiety, depression, and both acute and chronic back and neck pain.

Her passion for Chinese Medicine began before she even experienced acupuncture as a patient. On her very first day of class, she needled herself, sparking a lifelong commitment to the field. She earned her medical training at the East West College of Natural Medicine and previously obtained her Associate of Science degree in Medical Assisting from Keiser University. In addition, she is pursuing further knowledge in her ancestral Mexican medicine, with the goal of integrating it into her Traditional Chinese and Western training to broaden her expertise and better serve her patients.

Born in Mexico and raised in Arcadia, Florida, Dr. Tamayo is fluent in both English and Spanish. She is dedicated to building lasting relationships with her patients, guided by her heartfelt desire to serve as an instrument of healing.

Outside of her practice, she enjoys reading, gardening, and cooking delicious meals.

Dr. Tamayo will be available in our office Tues and Thurs from 2 pm to 8 pm and every 2nd and 4th Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm.

Diplomate of Acupuncture

A Diplomate of Acupuncture is an acupuncturist who is certified by the NCCAOM. It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation Diplomate of Acupuncture (NCCAOM). NCCAOM certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture as defined by the acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) profession. National board certification in acupuncture has been the mark of excellence in AOM since the inception of the Commission in 1982.

 

Diplomate of Chinese Herbology

A Diplomate of Chinese Herbology is a practitioner who is certified by the NCCAOM®. It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation Diplomate of Chinese Herbology (NCCAOM®). NCCAOM certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of Chinese herbology as defined by the acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) profession. National board certification in Chinese herbology has been the mark of excellence in AOM since the Chinese Herbology Certification Program was introduced in 1996. 

Diplomate of Oriental Medicine

A Diplomate of Oriental Medicine is a practitioner who is certified by the NCCAOM. It is a considerable professional achievement to earn the designation Diplomate of Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM®). NCCAOM certification indicates to employers, patients, and peers that one has met national standards for the safe and competent practice of acupuncture and Chinese herbology as defined by the acupuncture and Oriental medicine (AOM) profession. National board certification in Oriental medicine has been the mark of excellence in AOM since the inception of the Oriental Medicine Certification Program in 2003.
